Hanita Lenses was proud to support a humanitarian ophthalmology mission in Léo, Burkina Faso, by donating intraocular lenses (IOLs) and surgical supplies to help restore sight for patients with cataracts.
The mission was organized by Interplast Germany e.V. and led by Dr. Andrea Huth and her team. Surgical care was provided at a local eye clinic established by Operieren in Afrika e.V., an organization that has been promoting access to surgery and medical education in the region for many years.
During one week of intensive clinical work, more than 250 patients, many presenting with advanced cataracts, were examined and received essential ophthalmic care, including cataract surgery.
Beyond patient treatment, the mission also focused on training local ophthalmologists, helping strengthen long-term, sustainable eye care services and supporting greater independence within the local healthcare system.
Hanita Lenses is honored to contribute to initiatives that improve access to sight-restoring cataract surgery around the world. We sincerely thank Dr. Andrea Huth, Interplast Germany e.V., Operieren in Afrika e.V., and all the healthcare professionals involved for their continued dedication to expanding access to quality ophthalmic care.
