Hanita Korea Hosts Intensity IOL Symposium in Seoul

In July 2025, Hanita Korea welcomed over 40 ophthalmologists to the Intensity IOL Symposium at Josun Palace, Gangnam, Seoul.

The event featured two distinguished lectures:

– Prof. Gerd U. Auffarth (Heidelberg University Hospital) presented clinical data and findings from a prospective randomized controlled trial of the Intensity IOL.

– Prof. Seung Pil Bang (Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital), the first Korean ophthalmologist to earn a Ph.D. in optical science from the University of Rochester, provided an in-depth perspective on the optical design and advantages of the Intensity lens.

Chaired by Prof. Jong Suk Song (Korea University Guro Hospital), the symposium highlighted the growing interest in premium cataract solutions and the expanding role of Intensity’s pentafocal design in delivering excellent visual outcomes.

Hanita Korea extends its sincere thanks to the speakers and participants for contributing to a successful and inspiring event.

Optical Quality With a New Pentafocal Diffractive MF IOL – Prof. Jorge L. Alió

In this MedTalk from ESCRS 2025, Prof. Jorge L. Alió shares results from a prospective study conducted with 64 eyes that underwent bilateral cataract surgery with the Intensity® Pentafocal IOL. He reports that the 5-foci distribution principle of the lens, meant to provide continuous vision across all distances, is confirmed by the flat defocus curve. Side effects typical of multifocal optics were minimal, supporting smooth adaptation for patients with high

Expanding the Depth of Focus: Extend™ Clinical Insights – Dr. Bianchi

In this MedTalk from ESCRS 2025, Dr. Germán Bianchi reports early clinical experience with the Extend™ monofocal plus IOL in bilateral cataract surgery. Across the first 12 patients followed to three months, distance vision improved in every case, and intermediate performance was consistently strong. For most patients, “near vision efficacy was also good.” Learn more here.

First Clinical Outcomes of Extend™, Hydrophobic Monoplus – Dr. Stodůlka

In this ESCRS 2025 MedTalk, Dr. Pavel Stodůlka presents early clinical outcomes with Hanita Lenses’ Extend™ monofocal plus IOL. The lens features a hydrophobic, glistening-free material and a Bessel-beam optical concept designed to gently broaden depth of focus. Based on the initial series of 29 patients implanted with Extend™ SL or Extend™ Toric, he reports strong refractive accuracy along with dependable intermediate visual performance. Learn more here.
